a small conglomeration of chayce’s interior architecture designs (ia+d)

aging in place

We all age, some faster than others it seems, with age comes certain disabilities like sight, movement, and stability impairment. The idea of “Aging in Place” is to create a styled home that is curated to the aged, without losing design. My design includes high contrast colors, non-slip tiles, a walk/roll-in shower, and other safety features such as, hand rails. We all age, why should we have to give up self expression/style?

modeling

There are a lot of hand attributes that come with architecture and interior design namely, drafting, drawing, modeling, typing, painting, and picture taking.

in this instance my hands were modeling a design concept i made myself with my logo, which is a combination of two projects and flipped upside down. i wish i had been able to keep this one :(

the final project

The final project is actually my admission portfolio to the program, we were given a space with no measurements, giving us almost full creative freedom, only one rule create a living space in this room. some were not accepted because they created two spaces, others because they lacked imagination. Here is my design!

I chose to do arched entryways as well as an arched fireplace, this adds to the organic aesthetic I chose. With my furniture choices being mid-century modern, and my decor having a soft rounded nature, my judges agreed that my concept is well thought out. They also appreciated how I had chosen to change the common shape of the entryways, since there was no rule saying I could not. Overall, my design was well loved, and I was accepted into the program but chose to decline.
